Rome has 2 airports. One is  Fiumicino Airport (FCO)- Leonardo da Vinci
Fiumicino is Rome's main airport for domestic and international flights and, as a result is the largest and most heavily trafficked. It has 4 terminals (Terminal 1,2,3 and 5 ). Located 32 km south-west of Rome.
Other one is
Aeroporto di Ciampino, Located 15 km south of the city centre.
Ciampino is smaller and less frantic than Fiumicino airport.


Getting from Fiumicino Airport to the city centre

Travelling by Train
The local train is the fastest option to reach city centre. The train station is located in front of Terminal 3 arrivals and there are two types of train that take you to Rome's centre.

- Leonardo Express

 

A direct connection from Rome Termini to Station Fiumicino airport,starting from 5:35  to 23:35 every 30 minutes daily. It takes 32 minutes. Price: 14 .
All children under 4 years (Free of charge)
Children between 4 and 12 accompanied by a paying adult each.


- Sabina-Fiumicino Line FR1

The sabina-Fiumicino line(FR1) is less expensive € 8 a ticket one-way and often, more convenient as it stops at Trastevere, Ostiense and Tiburtina stations. These stations are in some of Rome's more popular neighbourhoods and are easily connectes with the city centre by public transport. Trains leave every 15 min and every 30 min during holidays, with the first one leaving at 5.58 and the last one leaving at 23.28.


Where you can buy train tickets?

Train tickets can be purchased online, from the designated ticket machine at the entrance to the platforms or from other authorised selling points such as the newspaper kiosk next to the ticket machines.


Taking a Bus

There are different bus company offering transport from Fiumicino to Rome and bus stations can find at Terminal 2 and 3 arrivals. Depending on the service, tickets cost € 4-8 one way and the journey between Fiumicino and Rome city centre is approximately
40-60 min according traffic.

Terravision bus: Transfer Aeroportuale Fiumicino - Roma
One is of the cheapest way to get from Fiumicino to the city centre.
 Bus leave from Fiumicino to Termini : 05:30 - 22:55
From Termini to Fiumicino: 4:40 - 21:50, every  20 min. Ticket:
5,80 one way

- Taking a Taxi

You can catch a taxi in front of  Terminal 1,2,3 e 5 (arrivals).Look for the official white taxis clearly marked with the "Comune di Roma" name and symbol on the door and the licence number. Taxi transport to the city centre has been standardised by the authorities of Rome at a flat fee of 48 with includes 4 passengers and all bags.
(it is important note that "City centre" refers to the area within the Aurelian/ancient walls-all other destination are charged by the meter.)

Attention!!
Avoid hired car"buskers"- suited men who will offer you transfer service for a flat fee. They are not official drivers, nor particularly reliable.


Getting from Ciampino airport to the city centre

Ciampino airport is not as well connected to the city centre.
It does, however, have various travel options to choose from - Taxi, Private car transfer or shuttle bus
